高水準範文示例 (Pre-dse Level) (由Kevin Chan 撰寫)
Today was the first rehearsal for my new play. The play is entitled 'Flying without Wings' and depicts a young boy's rise from poverty to the dizzy heights of movie stardom. His journey is a long and fraught one. Along the way he is challenged by many different obstacles, and the play's focus centres on his struggles.
The rehearsal started off rather routinely with the normally preparation and setting up that is involved in these types of projects. However late in the day we started to have some problems with our lead actor whose attention span seemed to wan as the day dragged on. Not only did he forget the majority of his lines but he inadvertently spilt some coffee onto one of the volunteer helpers, resulting in utter chaos. Sometimes I wonder why I hire these moody actors? I guess I base my hiring solely on acting merits and perhaps that is a mistake!
Due to the various misdemeanors that occurred throughout the day, I would have to say that the rehearsal was a universal failure. The amount of time and effort I have put into this project looks entirely wasted. There were some positives for sure, which were mainly that I enjoyed the performance of some of the supporting actors - perhaps I should give them a more staring role! Yet my joy at their efforts was both short-lived and more significantly overshadowed by various problems created by the severe shortage of acting talent on display from the lead and supporting actors and actresses!
A vast amount of improvements need to be made between now and the subsequent rehearsal. I would say firstly the entire props department needs a shake up! The misplaced clothing made me finally concede it might be better just to do the props myself! Moreover there needs to be a lot more developed scenery for the next rehearsal: asking someone to climb a tree when the only scenery we had was a plastic pig is not much good! Lastly there need to be great improvements in the performance of the aforementioned lead actor.
Reflecting on the first rehearsal as a whole I would say I have learnt my lesson!
